Revitalized Entrance for a Colonial Revival House

Property location: Portland, Maine

This Colonial Revival house in Portland used to have a continuous hedge that ran along the length of the sidewalk right at the edge of the property creating a barrier between the house and the street. The homeowner enlisted Ted Carter Inspired Landscapes (TCIL) to rework the landscape and create a more welcoming design that still provided privacy from the street when in the yard while also highlighting the architecture of the building. The front walkway was created using clay pavers and granite steps in keeping with the style of the architecture. TCIL also designed and installed natural cleft stairs within the front lawn and a sitting terrace using granite flagging installed in a mosaic pattern.
