  • Roughly 70% of the work that the Field Production team does is site work or hardscape related. A large portion of the hardscape work involves installing natural stone stairs and flatwork. The other hardscape work is walls, fire pits, water features, etc. The balance of the 30% of our work is softscape related, including creating garden beds, installing trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetable and herb gardens, and related features.

  • April through December, normal work hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Team members working during the winter (January through March) often have a reduced work week.

  • Field Production team members work with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.

    • Heavy equipment includes a front-end loader, skid steers, and mini-excavator.

    • Power tools include hammer drills, concrete saws, angle grinders, sod cutters, and compactors.

    • Hand tools include hammers, chisels, feather and wedge sets, shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, and related landscaping implements.

  • Yes, we have our own fleet of trucks and trailers and one of the core responsibilities of Field Production team members is to use our fleet to mobilize equipment and materials to the job site.

    • Start the day at company headquarters – load tools, equipment, and materials in preparation for the day’s work.

    • Travel to the job site.

    • Work on project until lunch.

    • Take half-hour paid lunch break (when working a full day) .

    • Continue project work at job site, or switch activities if instructed to do so by your supervisor.

    • Wrap day at job site by picking up tools and tidying things up.

    • Return vehicles and equipment to company headquarters.

    • Unload tools, equipment, and materials at HQ in preparation for next day’s work.

  • We operate the Field Production crew with team members performing all tasks, both hardscapes and softscapes. Some team members are more proficient at certain tasks, but everyone is expected to develop their skills for all of the work we perform.

  • We specialize in working with natural stone. Bluestone, granite (natural cleft and sawn), fieldstone, cobblestone, and boulders are common materials. We also regularly utilize precast concrete pavers and wall block.

  • Our softscape work includes plant materials (trees, shrubs, ground covers, perennials, sod), aggregates (loam, bark mulch), soil amendments (fertilizer, etc.), and elements to create garden beds like curv-rite edging.

  • Bring your creative thoughts and abilities with you each day! While there is a rhythm to what we do, no two projects are the same. We value outside-the-box thinking and appreciate team members’ contributions in making each project unique and of the highest quality.

  • Yes, if the rain is fairly mild, we can often don rain gear and are able to continue working. However, heavy rain can sometimes wash out our job sites. On days where the rain is expected to be significant, we notify team members before the work shift starts if there will be no field work due to poor weather conditions. Also, for everyone’s safety, we do not work in conditions where there is active lightning.

  • In some instances…yes! We install thermal blankets on site to keep the ground from freezing. We also construct plastic tented structures that are heated inside to facilitate winter work. Some team members take a break from TCIL during the winter months. It varies by team member.

  • Weather permitting, we start full field operations mid-April. We are quite busy in the early part of season with Memorial Day weekend and 4th of July being two major milestones for completing projects. We continue to be busy in the lead up to Labor Day weekend. The pace of work shifts as we head into the fall months.

  • We love our clients! They’re usually very excited to see us arriving at their home to work on their landscape project. It is gratifying to read the positive reviews they write about us online. They rave about our high-quality work and our polite, hard-working crew.

    • Coordinate an interview (either via zoom or in-person)

    • After the interview, TCIL will reach out to your references

    • If the interview and reference checks go well, we will extend a job offer

    • If you accept the job offer, the hiring date will be set once a background check is completed

  • We accept applications whenever someone would like to express interest in working with us. Our job postings reflect the positions we are currently looking to fill, however, we do review applicants who submit materials for non-advertised positions.
